A Week of Dinners #4: All American Meal

All American Meal

The only way to get more American, would be if I served this with mashed potatoes.

Nothing like a hearty, home-cooked, comfort food meal.

Meatloaf, baked sweet potato fries and baked apples. Delicious and completely filling. I'm actually feeling stuffed.

Meatloaf
• 1/2 lb ground turkey
• 2 slices bread, torn
• 1 egg
• 1 Tbs Pasta Sprinkle
• 1 Tbs spoon Ketchup + some for drizzling
• 1/2 Tsp Worcestershire Sauce

1) Place torn bread, egg and pasta sprinkle in bowl. Add meat and lightly mush together. Add Worcestershire and Ketchup, mush lightly again.
2) On a 'foil & pammed' baking sheet, mold your mixture into a meatloaf shape with your hands. Drizzle with ketchup.
3) Bake at approx 400 degrees F for 15-20 minutes or until the outer shell begins to brown and the meat is cooked through.

Sweet Potato Fries
• 2 Sweet Potatoes, peeled
• 2 Tbs Olive Oil
• Fresh ground salt, to taste

1) Slice potatoes in fry-like strips. 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide.
2) Place fries onto to a 'foil & pammed' baking sheet. Drizzle with oil and salt.
3) Bake at approx 400 degrees F for at least 30 minutes. I let ours get crispy on the outside as Mike and I both like sweet potatoes more with the crispiness. These are very good with horseradish sauce.

Baked Apples
• 5 Apples, peeled & cored
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1/2 Tsp ground cinnamon

1) Chop apples into 1/2 inch pieces.
2) Place in microwavable bowl with lid. Add sugar and cinnamon, stir to coat the apples.
3) Microwave bowl with lid on for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring halfway through.

I must also note, this meal was completely winged. Measurements are estimates, but I've always been pretty good at eyeballing them. It fed Mike and I with leftovers of apples, increase accordingly.

Hey little sister,
Your costumes were awesome!!! Tell Mike he should walk around more with glasses drawn on his face.. hee hee hee. You've got some good recipes up there that I might have to steal. Call me later, and I might have to start a blog of my own. Its not like I don't have anything else better to do right now.

Love ya
