Project #16 in '50 in 2008 challenge' - Happy Birthday Blog Giveaway Banner
Yes, I know. My blogiversary was almost a month ago. Therefore my giveaway contest was nearly a month ago. And what! I'm just now getting around to finishing and sending the prize. Well, yes. I am. But I clearly think it was worth the wait (I was sick for 2 weeks so that should give me some time, right?).
Do you see how cute the Happy Birthday banner turned out?!
As I finished it up last night, I was utterly surprised. And fell a bit in love with the piece. Even though I designed it, specifically not to. That backfired because though I thought the fabric combination really aren't my thing, they turned out so cute together. And the kicker…I can't decide between the blue blanket stitch or the blue checker board grosgrain ribbon. They both pop off the flowery patterns and colors.
I really hope Jenna likes it as much as I do.

See you can tell it was hand made because my blanket stitch is definitely imperfect. Hopefully it's seen by outsiders as adding to the charm, and not as poor craftsmanship. It's not that I didn't take the time and care about what I was doing…I just need more practice.
And I'm definitely loving exploring the capabilities of our new camera. I took like 5 pictures at this same frame, all focusing on different things. Things are blurred out…on purpose! You can't get that with a little point and shoot.

I am disappointed that I didn't get a bigger jump on this. Initially I planned to make a double sided version for myself for mine and Mike's birthday at the end of May. One side girly. One side more masculine. We even have the perfect spot to hang a two-sided banner.
Alas, I'll have to wait until next year I guess.
If I was smart, I'd make it now while I was in the groove. But I'm not and I want to try and finish the Super Secret Birthday Present, which is mentioned in my side bar (and has grabbed some people's curiosity), for this year's event.
It definitely feels good to get back on the '50 in 2008' track. Now onto the next project!

Wow wow WOW!! It got here safe and sound and it is awesome! Thank you so much, it is perfect! Mike's birthday is next month so it will definitely been hanging for quite some time! Too cool for school!
The colors all go together perfectly - so happy looking. I also want to let you know that your blanket stitch is perfect! How is the super secret birthday gift coming along? Marc's birthday is just a few weeks away. I need to get cracking on a gift... last year I made him granola and notebooks out of grocery paper bags. Romantic or what?! Take care :o) you're fantastic.
