Slow & steady wins the race, right?
Lucky for me, the wedding we attended this weekend (for our good college friend, Gavin) and a Sunday night Fajita Night with friends did not derail all progress. Despite consuming too many Tostito Scoops and a few cookies - I did stop at 3, so I count that as a small victory.
Couch to 5K is going. I downloaded a C25K app for my iPod that will give me audio cues when it's time to switch from walking to running and vice versa. I love that it runs with my Nike+ and that I'm able to listen to anything I want and still get audio cues and not need to watch the clock, but so far I'm only batting .500 with it. Every other time it decides not to talk to me so I end up having to wear my arm band around my wrist to watch the time and take my iPod off the auto sleep/energy save option. Not cool. But then the next time it works great, so I haven't given up yet. Let me tell you though, the miss functioning app almost caused me to quit C25King on Friday. The weather had turned typical Midwest summer hot finally, the audio cues weren't working, it was Friday, I was hungry and I was this close to turning around and walking home.
I prevailed though. And now I'm on week 3 (and made it thru the 1st workout today with 3 min intervals - woot woot!), I may just have the drive and commitment to make this work.
They say it takes 21 days to form a habit. If I can make it through this week, I should be over the hard part - that little voices in the back of my head saying, "aww, just make dinner, you can go tomorrow."
